Kurşunlu Hagios Aberkios Monastery

It is near the village of Kurşunlu in Gemlik district. Establishment of Monastery goes back before IX. century. It is right by the sea. According to its endowment in 1162, it is written that it was rebuilt by Nikophoros Miystikos in the period of I. Manuel Komnenos. The monastery is dedicated to the Theotokos. It is called Hagios Aberkios or Theotokos. It is understood from the documents that it started to operate again in 1652. Its walls are made of red stone and brick. The main structure of the monastery is still standing. It is one of the oldest monasteries in Bursa.
